Lunch of a Scheme for Promotion of Research & Innovation in Pharma MedTech (PRIP) Sector by Department of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India
We wish to bring to the notice of Members that Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India launched a new scheme called Promotion of Research & Innovation in Pharma MedTech (PRIP) today.
Salient features of the Scheme are given below:
1. There are six (6) priority areas viz., New Chemical Entity/New Biological entity/new phytochemical entity, Complex generics/biosimilars, Precision Medicine, Medical Devices, Orphan Drugs and Drug Development for AMR
2. There are three (3) categories of funding:
a) Category I – Funding up to 35% of project cost or Rs.125 crores, whichever is less. Any Company with not less than Rs. 1000 crore annual revenue and with R&D expenditure of 3-5% is eligible to apply. The project has to be undertaken in collaboration with any of the notified Centers of Excellence. Only 9 (nine) companies will be selected
b) Category II: Funding up to 35% project cost Rs. 100 crores, whichever is less. Any company working on R&D projects of above priority areas is eligible to apply, provided the project is at TRL (Technology Readiness Level) 5 or 6. Thirty (30) projects will be selected.
c) Category III: Funding up to Rs. 1 crore per project. Start Ups and MSMEs working on project in the priority areas are eligible to apply for projects from TRL 1-4. One hundred Twenty five (125) projects will be selected.
d) Last date for submission of Expression of Interest is 7th April 2025. Expression of Interest has to be submitted through Web page of Department of Pharmaceuticals only, which will be made available two week before the last date.
